Philosophy, AI, and Digital Humanities
My work sits at the intersection of philosophy and software engineering. I am currently researching value-alignment in large language models, and I have a particular interest in the use of natural language processing and other AI methods within humanities scholarship.
Recent work includes a digital humanities project with the University of York and the architecture and the delivery of AI-powered tooling at Open Data Services. I have spent more than a decade as a software engineer and technical architect, taking work from early prototypes through to production systems. I am familiar with the rhythms of academic projects, including funding applications and compliance.
I take on a limited number of collaborations on digital humanities projects each year, particularly in philosophy, theology, and the history of ideas, alongside my engineering work and research. Please do get in touch at digitalhumanities@simonkittle.com if you have a project you’d like to discuss.
